Free Body Diagrams & Net Force

Presentation is attached below

Cliff Notes
I. Force
    A. Force: a push or a pull
    B. Force is measured in Newtons (N)
    C. Examples: pushing a box, hitting something, pulling on a rope, pushing the gas pedal on a car
II. Free Body Diagrams
    A. Free Body Diagrams: used to show all forces acting on an object
    B. Examples
        1. A person pushing a box (diagram)
        2. Two people pushing a box (diagram)
        3. Person skydiving with a parachute (diagram)
III. Net Force
A Net Force: the resulting total force acting on an object
    B. Examples
        1. One person pulling a box with a 15 N force to right while another pulls with a 6 N force to the left.
Net force?    9 N to the right
        2. Two people pushing a box to the right with 7 N forces, one pushing to the left with a 20 N force.
Net force?    6 N to the left
        3. Person skydiving with a parachute weighs 50 N, and the parachute provides 20 N of resistance.
            Net force?    30 N down
