About Me

Hello! My name is Christy Johannesson. After teaching high school Chemistry I Honors and Integrated Physics and Chemistry for five years, I am currently taking a break to be a full-time mother to my children, Michael and Elizabeth.

I was blessed to spend my first (and only, so far) teaching years at Communications Arts High School in San Antonio, Texas. CAHS is a magnet school in the Northside Independent School District where students are encouraged to develop the written, oral, and technological communication skills that will serve them well in whatever profession they choose to pursue. If you find yourself looking at schools in San Antonio, I strongly encourage you to check it out!

One of my strengths as a teacher was incorporating technology into the curriculum, including a classroom website that was updated frequently with lecture notes and homework assignments. To my surprise, this website was not only utilized by my students, but was also frequently visited by other students and teachers as a resource for their own study and instruction. For that reason, I decided to reformat my former classroom site to better suit its new role as a reference for high school physical science and introductory chemistry and physics. Thank you to my former school for continuing to host this site on their server! On the home page, I've given some pointers about how both students and teachers can best utilize this site.

Teachers...Much of the material on this site was borrowed from others and adapted to fit my needs. Therefore, I encourage you to do the same. I have always thought that the willingness to share information is one of the unique characteristics that makes the teaching profession stand out from many others. I only ask that you give me proper credit when appropriate (e.g. if someone asks you!) and drop me a line to let me know that you found the site useful. Please feel free, also, to ask any questions you may have. I will do my best to answer them.
