This drill refreshed participants' skills necessary to properly respond to a disaster event. The drill scenario was an over-turned Transit bus with approximately twenty victims of varying injuries.
On August 25, 2011, CERT members helped at the LAFD 9/11 Tribute Send-Off Event to recognize the members of LAFD who were making the journey to New York City for the 10th Anniversary of 9/11.
On September 11, 2011, CERT members assisted at the 9-11 Memorial Ceremony at Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center.
"Hermon ShakeOut: The Play" Earthquake & Fire Evacuation Drill was held on October 22, 2011. It was a first-of-its-kind community-based drill. Northeast LA tested out everything from CERT emergency rescue to neighborhood evacuations. Based in Hermon, but involving all surrounding communities, there was first an earthquake, followed up by a fire and evacuation to the nearest Neighborhood Survival Area (where residents were provided free survival goodies).
